Guidelines for pedestrians and drivers entering the university - Security

 

1. General 
1.1. Due to security and public safety considerations, the Security Department is authorized to prevent and/or limit entry to the campus to any person even if he/she has an entry permit.
1.2. Any person entering the campus shall allow a search of his/her person and belongings and shall present an identification document to the guards at the entrance or to the employees of the Security Department, at any time that he/she is requested to do so.
1.3. Anyone prevented from entering who wishes to appeal this decision, may appeal in writing by fax (02-582-8547) to the Office of the Vice President and Director General. The response shall be given no later than 72 hours. Please list the address of the person appealing to the Office of the Vice President and Director General (including telephone and fax numbers).
 
2. One-time entry for Guests of the University 
2.1. Entry to the University's campus of an invited guest (without vehicle) shall be arranged in advance by the Unit, one day before the visit in accordance with the following:
2.1.1. The one who invites the guest shall send a request by fax to the Security Department on the relevant campus including the name of the guest, identification number, reason for entry and designation on campus to which the guest is invited. The request shall note the name of the person inviting, identification number, position, name of unit, and internal phone number.
2.1.2. The invited guest shall approach the "Security Station" located close to the main entrance to each campus, present his identification card, and will then be given a one-time entry permit to the campus.
2.1.3. The guest shall present this permit together with his identification card to the guard at the entrance to the campus.
2.2. In general, the University facilities are designed to serve the University community. Those wishing to visit the campus at their own initiative are requested to approach the Security Department in advance by fax (588-1636) and to provide their details: name, identification number, address and phone and the reason for the visit on campus. A response will be provided within 24 hours. The entry permit shall be subject to considerations of the Campus Security.
 
3. Multi-use entry permit for invited guests
3.1. Those people who are not employees/students/ pensioners/alumni and who have close work ties with a unit at the University may receive a temporary permit which will be in effect for the current academic year.
3.2. The director of the University's unit will transfer the request to the Office of the Vice President and Director General including the following details: name, identification number, full address, phone numbers and reasons for the request. The Director of the unit shall list all of his identification details. The request shall be transferred after approval to the Division of Human Resources for preparation of a temporary document for the relevant year which will be transferred to the Director of the Unit and given by him to the person.
 
4. Temporary Entry permit for spouses of employees
4.1. Members of the Academic and Administrative Staff will receive a temporary entry permit for the current academic year upon specific request.
4.2. A member of the staff who is interested in a permit for his son/daughter shall request this in writing from the Associate Dean / Director of the Administrative Dept. The requests shall be transferred together to the Director of the Archive of the Division of Human Resources together with the details: name, identification number, address, home phone, name of staff member, identification number, unit where employed, internal phone.
4.3. The Division of Human Resources shall transfer in the internal mail the document to the Associate Dean / Director of the Administrative Department who will give this to the staff member (academic/ administrative).
 
5. Temporary Entry Permit for University Alumni
5.1. University alumni who wish to receive a temporary entry permit for this academic year, should make a request to the "Alumni section" in the Division for Public Relations at phone 02-588-2829, fax: 02-5882932 while detailing name, identification number, address and phone.
5.2. The permit will be sent to the address of the person requesting it by the Alumni Section in the Division of Public Relations.
 
6. One-time entry permit for vehicles
A unit who invites a guest and requests a permit for entry with vehicle shall act as follows:
6.1. One may purchase in the Security Department a booklet of 50 one-time permits at the cost of NIS 500. Each permit is for one-time use for one car for one entry.
6.2. The one-time entry permit is composed of three sections:
Section 1 - shall remain in the unit;
Section 2 + 3 shall be sent to the invitees, after filling in the details; At the time of entry, by vehicle, to the campus, the guest shall give the guard section A, Section B shall remain with the guest and should be placed on the inside of the car window so that it can be read clearly.
6.3. In urgent cases it is possible to transfer the section A and B to the "Security Station" at each campus one day before the arrival of the invitee to the campus. In this case, the permit will be with the guard at the time the guest is supposed to arrive.
6.4. In instances where the permit is transferred the same day, the guest must go to the "Security Station" and receive a permit before entering the campus.
6.5. The guest must identify himself at the entrance by his identification card and allow examination of the car by the guards at the gate.
6.6. On the section B (which remains with the guest) there are detailed regulations regarding parking on the campus; the unit inviting the guest must call his attention to these regulations in advance.
6.7. Entrance of guests with vehicles onto the campus will be allowed only according to the above. Do not call the Security Department in order to arrange for entrance of vehicle. These appeals will not be answered.
6.8. Entry permits are intended for one entry only and may not be used again.
