Oscar Winner Marlee Matlin to Meet Hebrew University Students, Faculty

Tuesday, June 20: Academy Award Winner Marlee Matlin to Meet Hebrew University Students, Faculty in Jerusalem

The Academy Award winning actress Marlee Matlin will join students and faculty for the event “People with Disabilities in the Media, ” hosted by the Center for Disability Studies, part of the Hebrew University's Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare. The event, held in cooperation with JDC Israel and the Ruderman Family Foundation, is accessible and will be accompanied by transcription and sign language translation. Matlin, who is deaf, is active on behalf of people with disabilities and serves as a spokeswoman for the National Association for the Deaf. She became the first deaf actor to win a major Academy Award for her performance in the movie “Children of a Lesser God.”
